Greener environments are surely what we need at this hour of ecological and environmental imbalances and BIG 92.7 FM in association with Sify championed the cause, through the BIG 92.7 FM World Environment Day Cyclathon, presented by Sify, across the 6 cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. The Cyclathon, as the name suggests was an innovative and fun mode of creating awareness to the Stations large youth listener base on the role that each of us can play in reducing pollution levels and making our cities a cleaner and greener place to live in.
The on air promotions led to participation in 
huge numbers, where people from across the city came together, bicycles in tow and cycled their way through the Cyclathon venue. The event was flagged off by Kannada actress Duniya Rashmi and actor Nagakiran along with the breakfast jock RJ Harsha amidst cheering participants. To ensure adequate medical support to the cyclists, a full fledged medical team of experts accompanied participants through the Cyclathon. At the end of the Cyclathon, one lucky participant won a brand new bicycle through a fun contest.
The on-air promotions for the event began a week in advance with RJ’s providing environmental tips and inviting listeners to participate in this rally. BIG FM gave away 14 bicycles on air to lucky listeners on the 5th of June as part of its initiative to promote the cause which were sponsored by TI Cycles. The event culminated with the on ground event amid much fun and frenzy, which caused a great stir among not just the participants, but bystanders and onlookers who were as influenced and appreciative of the initative.
