Yes.. this station is on a roll.. Two week back they concluded their Bail the Jock activity at Forum Mall and last week was a unique RJ Marathon inspired by the Beijing Olympics.

BIG FM Bangalore’s breakfast jocks RJ’s Harsha & Shruthi attempting to be on air for a duration of 92.7 hours started their marathon attempt on the 11th of Aug at 2pm and successfully completed it on the 15th of Aug at 11am. Olympian & National Swimming Champion Shikha Tandon flagged off this marathon while Singer Chaitra and Karnataka’s most sought after Music Director and Composer Mr Mano Murthy came in to support the RJs. Mr Mano Murthy also shared his experiences and the new projects that he is currently working on while Chaitra sang bits of her popular tracks on-air.

Yes… that’s rite. BIG FM’s breakfast RJ’s Harsha & Shruthi will be jailed at Forum Mall stating from morning of 2nd Aug. They are fighting for a social cause - trying to educate the citizens of Bangalore on the issues of public hygiene and cleanliness.

They are requesting their listeners and public to come forward and punch a punching bag which depicts all the Susu Uncles and Garbage Aunties of Bangalore. The more you punch the bags, the better is their chance of coming out from the jail.

BIG FM urges people to care for their Bengaluru

BIG 92.7 FM Bangalore recently initiated a new campaign to connect with its listeners and trash out the issues faced by a common Bangalorean. Aptly titled ‘Bendethu Bengaluru’ this 2 week long campaign addressed one major issue everyday starting from 7^th July and went on till the 19^th of July. This was an opportunity for the residents of the city to speak up and discuss issues ranging from bribery & traffic problems to public hygiene and the likes.

As a continuation of this campaign, BIG FM conducted an awareness activity on Public Hygiene at BDA complex in Koramangala on 16th July and covered other parts of the city during the day. It is basically to create awareness among the public on how to keep themselves and their surroundings clean.

RJ Harsha & RJ Shruthi were present during this activity and educated the public on how to keep our surroundings clean while giving away goodies.

Speaking on this occasion, RJ Shruthi said, “Like the popular quote – Charity begins at home; we Rj’s at BIG FM have started implement various simple methods of contributing towards the betterment of namma Bengaluru before we start preaching about it on air. Hope we get support from our listeners and residents of the city to make Bengaluru a clean & green city again”

BIG FM Bangalore launches a unique campaign called ‘Bendethu Bengaluru’

As a culmination to this two week campaign, the Breakfast jocks RJ Harsha and RJ Shruthi will take up the top 3 issues for Bangalore and request the listeners to vote for the most popular issue boggling the city today. They will then be jailed for a day and will be bailed out only when they receive 9027 votes of support from their listeners.

 

To create the necessary buzz on-ground, some of these major issues will be discussed at forums across the city along with local celebrities and government bodies. Hoardings at prominent locations along with floats will sport the topic of the day and request participation via sms and call-ins.

BIG FM goes to Singapore with BIG BOLLYWOOD 96.3 FM

From July 1, 2008, the airwaves of Singapore will resonate to a new tune, the tune of Bollywood. As Singapore’s Radio Network MediaCorp, joins hands with India’s leading FM Network BIG 92.7 FM to offer the local populace, Singapore’s only Bollywood Radio Station aptly christened ‘BIG Bollywood 96.3 FM’. BIG 92.7 FM brings to you ‘LOVE STORY 2050’

June 12, 2008:

BIG 92.7 FM, India’s No.1 FM Station has exclusively partnered with ‘LOVE STORY 2050’, a futuristic sci-fi love story presented by ADLABS FILMS and BAWEJA Movies. A racy love story, the film marks the debut of Harman Baweja supported by Bollywood heartthrob Priyanka Chopra. Also starring in the film are Boman Irani and Archana Puran Singh among others. The film, which sees a world wide release on July 4^th, would enthrall cine goers with visual effects no less than a Hollywood flick, specially designed by John Cox and Weta Workshop.

 

Harman Baweja was on BIG 92.7 FM’s Breakfast Show—Big Chai hosted by the very popular RJ Archana Jani in Mumbai on June 16^th. To add to the zing, both Harman and Priyanka offered a complete treat to listeners, as they were heard for the first time ever on radio, through the day, answering questions from fans across the day on air. BIG 92.7 FM will be offering a great opportunity for the film to garner national-wide reach and popularity while connecting to fans across 35 cities of India.

Synopsis-Love Story 2050

Boman Irani plays an eccentric scientist who has dedicated 15 years of his life into building a Time Machine. In the promos Boman is shown jubilating with his successful invention. The character played by Harman Baweja along with his girlfriend (Priyanka Chopra) sets out on a journey to the year 2050 through the time machine. Then, they land in a futuristic Mumbai having flying cars, holograms, robots and Indian ninjas, androids, and laser guns. The story moves further from there. The movie revolves around the invention of a time machine which allows the couple to time travel to know more about their life in the year 2050. Priyanka will play a double role in the movie. Both her characters are contrast of each other. One belongs to present and other to the future. Her first character is of a coy girl next door from the present whereas, the other one is of a bold and headstrong girl from the future.

BIG 92.7 FM & SIFY CYCLE FOR A GREENER ENVIRONMENT

5 June Bangalore:

Greener environments are surely what we need at this hour of ecological and environmental imbalances and BIG 92.7 FM in association with Sify championed the cause, through the BIG 92.7 FM World Environment Day Cyclathon, presented by Sify, across the 6 cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. The Cyclathon, as the name suggests was an innovative and fun mode of creating awareness to the Stations large youth listener base on the role that each of us can play in reducing pollution levels and making our cities a cleaner and greener place to live in.

 

The on air promotions led to participation in huge numbers, where people from across the city came together, bicycles in tow and cycled their way through the Cyclathon venue. The event was flagged off by Kannada actress Duniya Rashmi and actor Nagakiran along with the breakfast jock RJ Harsha amidst cheering participants. To ensure adequate medical support to the cyclists, a full fledged medical team of experts accompanied participants through the Cyclathon. At the end of the Cyclathon, one lucky participant won a brand new bicycle through a fun contest.

The on-air promotions for the event began a week in advance with RJ’s providing environmental tips and inviting listeners to participate in this rally. BIG FM gave away 14 bicycles on air to lucky listeners on the 5^th of June as part of its initiative to promote the cause which were sponsored by TI Cycles. The event culminated with the on ground event amid much fun and frenzy, which caused a great stir among not just the participants, but bystanders and onlookers who were as influenced and appreciative of the initative.

BIG 92.7 FM urges Bangaloreans to say ‘NO’ to Tobacco

BIG 92.7 FM, Bangalore celebrates ‘World No Tobacco Day’ with a difference. With an aim of spreading awareness regarding the dangers of smoking amongst youth, the station initiated an on-air and on-ground activity titled ‘Dhum Iddiya’ (Do you have Guts) where the team challenged smokers against smoking and advised them against it. A dummy in the shape of a huge cigarette was carried as a dead body across various parts of the city with high footfalls to create strong visual impact.

Bangaloreans participated in this drive with complete enthusiasm. Many youths came forward and stubbed their cigarettes and took an oath to never smoke again and spread the awareness against tobacco consumption. People were encouraged to join and support their opposition against tobacco consumption by signing on a BIG BANNER. An OB van, carrying BIG FM RJs gave live updates of the on-ground activity.

Starting 29^th May, a Yamraj character on-air made listeners aware of the ills of tobacco and gave interesting alternates to smoking!! The character also stressed on the various things that could be bought by saving on the cost of cigarettes. Bytes of prominent citizens and cancer patients (suffering due to tobacco consumption), was aired to gather greater appeal on the subject and provide a better perspective.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Kumaran, Cluster Head – Karnataka & Kerala, BIG 92.7 FM, said “We believe in talking to the audience in their language and since we are targeting youth and want to make them aware of the ills of smoking we have taken a unique, humorous route to communicate a serious message. Bangalore rocks with Sonu Niigaam

Rock with Sonu concert organised by BIG 92.7 FM held on 19^th April at Palace Grounds was a huge success with over 6000 fans cheering their superstar.

 

The crowd went mad and started singing along when Sonu sang the two most popular Kannada tracks from the movie Mungaaru Male. Local celebs Prem with his family (Actor), Sihi Kahi Chandru (TV celeb), Lakshmi Manmohan (Playback Singer) etc were present at the show.

 

 

The show ended with the 5 city winners singing Sonu Niigaam’s hit music single ‘Punjabi Please’ along with the music legend Sonu himself. Have posted some pics from the show.
